My Name is Earl was apparently all based on Rudy. I didn't notice because I was just so shocked to hear a song from Rush's first album.
They played Working Man.
Between that and Knights of Prosperity's use of Tom Sawyer, it's been a good year for pre-synth Rush in sitcoms.

Almost totally unrelated TV reference whose news I'm spreading as far and as wide as I can: The first season of "Get Smart!" on DVD goes on sale next week. This show was Stone Brilliant, far funnier than anything else on at the time. (Don Adams as the lead? Mel Brooks as the evil genius producing it? How could it be anything else?)
To the best of my recollection, there was no Rush on the soundtrack. Still, you must buy.
The Rudy basis -- was that a deep cut or what? It took me until the "something" speech to get it.
Glad I wasn't the only one who didn't see it right off the bat, Patrick. And I have no excuse: I love Rudy, and I've seen it at least 3 times. But I didn't catch the Rudy parody until Charles S. Dutton started coming for Earl while wearing his coveralls, about 1 second before he (Dutton) started delivering the speech. I actually paused the DVR and said, "Holy shit, it's Rudy!"
Notre Dame is everywhere!
HAHAHA!!!
