Why I don't understand Rob Thomas ...

Matchbox 20 should make any list of the worst 20 bands of the past 20 years. Yet when you pair Rob Thomas with Carlos Santana, he's not bad. And when you pair him with Stevie Wonder, he rocks. (Check here and seek Higher Ground.)

Oh thank you. I'm glad someone with a long-term musical perspective can support my automatic repulsion to that group. I would also request the inclusion of Stone Temple Pilots and anything Scott Weiland-related.

You just lost me. Rob Thomas is the problem -- his face, his rock star poser image, his utter pretentiousness. I refuse to click that link because I'm so inundated by that media whore* that I cannot voluntary seek out more of him.

* He's a media whore at the level of Jennifer Love Hewitt. More than Penelope Cruz, but not quite as much as Sheryl Crow.

But that's the thing -- when Thomas is signing with Santana or Stevie Wonder, he doesn't act like a frontman any more. He just sings. And he's not bad.
